Preparations underway to celebrate
Hyderabad Festival

The preparations to celebrate Hyderabad Festival by the District Government were on full swing.

In a series of meetings by the Heritage Committee reviewing the arrangements for the cultural show it was resolved to carry out concrete measures to make the show successful.


Society Building needs white wash

Mr. Aftab Khatri, the District Coordination Officer, who is also heads the Heritage Committee reiterated his instance that administration would take every possible step to renovate, preserve and conserve the old architectural buildings and historical monuments of the city on scientific basis. He also said that no method would be adopted which might effect the value of any historical monument.

A PC1 was under preparation for the same and the district government was fully aware that any preservation work carried out on the identified buildings would be duly monitored by the committee and no one would be allowed to apply ordinary methods for their renovations.

Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jameel, the Zila Nazim of city has issued special directives to the concerned agencies to accelerate the pace of work besides taking appropriate measures to remove encroachments on the identified sites.

All the hoardings on these buildings are being removed with the help of TMAs and Hyderabad’s Building Control Authority (HBCA) has also taken some positive steps in this regard.


In a recent meeting of HHC it was resolved to make preparations for bringing out series of publications focusing at past and present of the historic city of Hyderabad for which a sub-committee comprising Mr. Momin Bullo, Mr. Kamlesh Kirpalani, Fatah Daudpoto & Mr. Ishrat Ali was constituted.

The committee would consolidate, compile and publish the material which would be distributed on the occasion. Mr. Shafat Unnar, the EDO, CDD in his briefing apprised the participants that to make the show a success, the pace of work on the said assignment has been geared up.

Mr. Unnar also disclosed that the Zila administration with the patronage of Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jameel taking all out efforts to achieve the target with in the stipulated time period. Mr. Ishrat Ali, a member of Hyderabad Heritage Committee (HHC), pointed out that the importance of those monuments would be erected within the compounds of those buildings and they would be made up of steel. To which all members agreed. Mr. Momin Bullo, suggested that a Project Director of the whole scheme be appointed so that the pace of work on the scheme may accelerated. It was further resolved that committee would continue its efforts to identify more monuments of historical nature and brought on the notice of the district government for their rehabilitation.

Mr. Shafat Unnar, EDO, CDD also assured that preservation work on the buildings located on Thandi Sarak would be carried out on priority basis. The district government before declaring those monument as protected would also seek the help of Provincial Culture Department for further necessary action.
