Pakistani Legislature completes full term!

President General Pervez Musharraf promised on the very day when the outgoing legislature was sworn in 2002 that this would be the first ever-assembly of Pakistan which shall complete its full term in office.

By the mid of current month assemblies completed their five-year term and stood dissolved and new care taker setup was brought in.

This is a widely acclaimed step towards strengthening parliamentary democracy in Pakistan  and a big lesson for the future democracies of the country. During its journey the assemblies experienced lot of tremours giving rise to speculations about their mid term terminations. However, the ever determined President General Pervez Musharraf didn’t do it and fulfilled his promise by letting it to complete its term. In the wake of political instability instead of opting to dissolve the legislature only a change of command took place in 2004 when Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali stepped down and Shoukat Aziz succeeded him. This was a good trend towards introducing coherence in policies and making Pakistan stronger in the comity of nations.

Mr. Muhammad Mian Soomro, the Chairman Senate of Pakistan was sworn in as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan to conduct general Polls scheduled to be held on January 8, 2008.

Mr. Soomro is known by his integrity and gentlemanly qualities and moreover by his command and control skills.

The choice would by and large benefit in bringing a new lot of legislators who could efficiently represent their electorates and make Pakistan a proud country.

Prime Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro is well aware of country’s political situation. His every decision in this regard would aimed at to bring harmony and help in prevailing tranquility.

From this fora we owe our responsibility to point out that in order to ensure free, fair and transparent elections all the political groupings should be taken into confidence and their every objections may be possibly entertained in our larger national interests.
