American game

Many Pakistanis have been expressing their resentment over the studied silence being maintained by Washington over their foremost demand that justice Iftikhar M. Chaudhry and other judges of the superior courts should be reinstated.

It is part of the US game plan to ensure the perpetuation of the Musharraf regime and the status quo has now been confirmed by American sources. According to a report (Nov 20), a former State Department official, William Fisher, has quoted a State Department source as telling him that the US administration will choose ’realpolitik’ over ’democracy promotion.’

He says: “We will vehemently vow to re-examine our aid programmes, urge free and fair elections, free jailed dissidents... and after some ’respectable’ period, regress to the status quo ante.”

This is in a way confirmed further by a statement of the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Michael Mullen, that the emergency had not affected the military-to-military relations between Pakistan and the US (Nov 21).

Another very important fact is that Admiral Mullen has also confirmed that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons are safe and “we are sure that they are secure.” This only serves to disprove the recent statement by President Musharraf that if he quits, then these weapons will no longer be safe. Obviously, he is not physically protecting the arsenal and it is the half a million strong army that will continue to safeguard it, when he is gone.

For the bereaved nation

Qatl gaahoon se chun ker hamaarey alam,
aur niklen gey ushaaq ke qaafle,
jin kee raahe talab mein hamaarey qadam,
mukhtesir ker chaley dard k faasley,
Hum jo tareek rahoon mein mary gaey.

Yesterday when I heard about this tragic news of Adee Benzair Bhuttos assassination in Ho Chee Minh City, I was so shocked that for the last 34 hours I can not sleep, since the day of my mother’s death, I have never felt and witnessed such  intense  pain  and sorrow. While watching her final farewell through FOX and Aljazeerah all my colleagues were weeping. Sindh is in a state of grief and distress, Sindhis and Balochs feel utterly confused, uncertain and anxious about what might happen to them next. Whoever is behind this brutal murder, Sindhis and working masses of Pakistan will never forgive them, they will have to pay for it. We stand at crossroad of the history where we must choose between a civilised and democratic Pakistan or disintegration under dictatorial rule. The way Awami Tahreek, APDM, STP, JSQM, ML N, WSI, HRCP and other parties and groups have shown their solidarity and have given calls for a month long rallies and protests, shows that the masses of Pakistan and the people of Sindh are united at this critical juncture of the history.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Adee Benazeer, the members of the Pakistan Peoples Party, and the poor and downtrodden Sindhis, Balochs, Seraikis, Pakhtoons, Punjabees, Muhajirs, Kashmirees, Hindkos and to all those who had hopes in her, at this irreparable loss of the century.

Sister Benazir:

Need of the hour

It has been a common habit to speak out of limit and jurisdiction which makes the speaker responsible and legally bound to face all legal and moral suits and cases lodged against him in the courts of Law, Human Rights Commission and International law agencies. In Pakistan, even the peon of government makes statements through press conferences and public meetings to discuss and express views on national as well political affairs and matters relating to government policies. For streamlining the political system and rules of governance in Pakistan, the worthy President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan or the authorities to deliver things for betterment of the country and nation at large but here nowadays. Now the need of hour is that we should be loyal, faithful & true Pakistanis to run the affairs smoothly for the betterment of the nation & perform our own duties & responsibilities rather than poking our noses to others affairs & assignments.

Mourn!

Mourn!

Pakistan has lost the ever great daughter...

Torn, are hopes of the nation, brutally slaughtered...

Later...

She was likely to get the kingdom...

But better,

Allah honoured and gifted her the martyrdom!

MOHTARMA YOU LIVE FOREVER!...
