Benazir Bhutto assassinated
Murder of Democracy
in Pakistan!!
Former Prime Minister, Mohtarma
Benazir Bhutto, was assassinated on December 27 at Pindi’s Liaqat
Bagh. She fell to prey of assassin’s bullet while waving to cheers
of PPP workers outside the park.
She returned to her homeland on
October 18, 2007 after ending her 8-year long exile. Upon her
landing on her native soil she was accorded tumultuous welcome
much bigger in size or fervour than that of April 1986.
On her way to the venue of Public
meeting at Mazar-e-Quaid, she met first suicide attack in which
more than 150 innocent lives were lost. Blasts occurred next to
her vehicle. Staunch and vibrant, Benazir addressed a Press
Conference next day and called it coward attempt. Besides this she
also visited the injured workers lodged in various city hospitals.
She also requisitioned protection
from the government.
Her cold blooded murder on
December 27 evening unleashed a wave of protest across the
country.
A wave of grief and shock traveled
from Karachi to Khyber while its epicenters remained in Sindh
where the angry masses targeted public and private properties
inflicting heavy financial and physical losses. The three-day
unabated rioting on streets and bazars shook the foundations of
the country. The losses inflicted couldn’t be assessed till our
going to press.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s services
for the country and muslim umma as a whole shall be remembered as
golden era. Moreover, the sacrifices of her family for the cause
of democracy and rule of law occupy a big space in history.
Shaheed Benazir’s untimely
departure is our national loss. The nation and the country would
bear a big cost for it. Shaheed Benazir shall continue to retain
respect and reverence in the hearts of the nation and the comity
of nations till ‘Roz-e-Qiyamat’.
Her mission for the cause of
democracy will remained continued un hindered. PPP’s decision of
giving away new leadership spear headed by Mr. Asif Ali Zardari
was again a tremendous contribution towards strengthening
democracy and democratic institutions in the country. Mr. Asif Ali
Zardari, who was chosen as the Co-Chairman of the party, would
compulsorily ensure the continuation of BB’s mission and would
take all possible efforts to foil the conspiracies hatched by the
anti-state elements to disintegrate our motherland. Because we
firmly believe that existence and stability of our country is
foremost prime and important than other political considerations.
Long live Benzair Bhutto; Long
live Pakistan.
